2D image processing tests:

2D image processing - 3D - Bus transfer rate - AGP - Other

Image Processing

All 2D image processing tests are performed in 640 x 320 resolution. All operations are performed in 32bit color. If the card doesn't support 32bit screen modes the images are converted on the fly to 24bit or 16bit color.

Although the faster your display adapter is the cooler the tests look, still, the conversion time or the image blit time do not affect the results. Only the image processing calculation time is taken into account.

These tests are the best indicators of pure CPU performance and memory speed. MMX technology is used in both tests if available.

The 2D image processing tests do not use Direct3D.

Radial Blur

Performs a radial blur filter operation on a 24bit picture. Radial blur is a common image processing filter found in commercial graphics packages. Final Reality just does it real-time.

Chaos Zoomer

Performs a feedback zoom effect. The faster the computer is, the further the effect is able to proceed.
