We have been working towards this moment for quite a while, and in the meantime tried to distract you with Uuno the dog escapades and videos of the new Remedy development studio. All part of the plan, rest assured!
From now on, it’s all about Control! It’s exciting and nerve-wracking to show our new game to you to say the least. We have been working on Control ever since Quantum Break (and before) and we managed to keep it under wraps up until now, but now it’s time to start talking about it. Thank you for being patient! The game is coming out in 2019 for Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.
We wanted to come out at E3 with a clear message on what kind of game Control is. It’s a single player game. It’s got story. It’s got action. It’s got mystery. It’s got that Remedy weirdness. It is a very deliberate thing that the trailer features gameplay. We are showing a 15 minute, behind closed doors, hands-off demo of Control at E3, and many of us from Remedy are over in Los Angeles to represent the rest of the team back in Finland.
Definitely keep your eye on gaming sites and social media to catch the latest on Control. We are all over E3 and are releasing a few episodes of our Remedy Roadshow on our YouTube channel chronicling our adventures in Los Angeles. At least the parts we are ready to show you…
So what is Control? It is in many ways something familiar, yet new from us. It’s a supernatural third person action-adventure with a cast of memorable characters and that twisted story you expect from Sam Lake and the rest of us at Remedy. Control is also a more gameplay-driven experience that gives players a lot of options on how to approach combat by giving you some cool supernatural abilities to upgrade, as well as the transforming Service Weapon that you can customize and develop. Control is a lot less linear of an experience compared to our previous games and offers more of a sandbox for players to enjoy and plenty of secrets to find in the Oldest House. Speaking of which, the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control is a very cool location for our game…we can’t wait to show you more on that. Finally, our heroine Jesse is another intriguing Remedy character with a mysterious past that you will get to discover… maybe.
What is also new is that we intend to keep the conversation going about Control with the community, instead of shutting up until the next big game conference™. Remedy as a company has become much more active in the past few years. We have opened up more and become more engaging. We’ll be releasing a steady stream of information on Control, including new screens, concept art, development diaries, and so on.
