Control nominated for record-breaking 11 BAFTA Games Awards

Yesterday morning, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced the nominations for the BAFTA Games Awards on the official BAFTA Games Twitter account.

We are proud to say that Control has been nominated in 11 categories!

Control has been nominated for the following:

Animation
Artistic Achievement
Audio Achievement
Game Design
Music
Narrative
Original Property
Technical Achievement
Performer in a Supporting Role – Martti Suosalo
Performer in a Leading Role – Courtney Hope
Best Game

The BAFTA Games Awards have been held since 2004, and this is the first time since their inception that a single game title has managed to get this many nominations in one go. New categories were added this year as well, namely Animation, Technical Achievement, Best Performer in a Leading Role, and Best Performer in a Supporting Role.

For comparison, our friends from Santa Monica Studio were nominated in ten categories for God of Wars at the BAFTAs last year, ultimately winning five awards. We share the honor of most nominations with Death Stranding, so congratulations to Hideo Kojima and all our friends from Kojima Productions!

The BAFTA Games Awards ceremony takes place on April 2nd in London, and everyone can tune in online on BAFTA’s channels on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch for the livestream.

Control has also been awarded six NAVGTR (National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers) Awards recently, and they are:

Animation, Technical
Art Direction, Contemporary
Control Design, 3D
Direction in a Game Cinema
Graphics, Technical
Lighting/Texturing

Thank you for the honor!

Also, as a reminder, Control is in the running for seven SXSW Gaming awards! The awards take place on Sunday, March 15th. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

And of course, the first paid expansion for Control, The Foundation, comes out on March 26th. We’re excited to share it with you!
