Control takes home three GDC Awards

The Game Developers Choice Awards were held virtually this year, due to GDC itself being postponed and current exceptional circumstances. We were lucky to be nominated with Control in five categories, and we’re happy to say that we won three GDC Awards!

Unfortunately, GDC this year had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but a number of talks were livestreamed this week, and so was the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony, which was entirely reformatted as a livestream on YouTube.

Control went home with the awards below! Next to the awards, you can check the video timestamps for our acceptance speeches.

Best Technology (37:26)
Best Audio (48:49)
Best Visual Art (56:32)

Congratulations to our entire Northlight engine team and our Lead Gameplay Programmer Sean Donnelly for the Best Technology award!

Congratulations to Ville Sorsa, our Audio Lead, and the whole Control audio team (some of who you can see in the acceptance video above)! Thank you also to our composers Petri Alanko and Martin Stig Andersen, and to Poets of the Fall.

And congratulations to our Art Director Janne Pulkinnen, our World Design Director Stuart MacDonald, and our art and VFX teams for the Best Visual Art award.

Congratulations are in order also for everyone else who worked and is still working on Control – these are for you, too!

A huge thanks, as always, to our publisher 505 Games for their support and hard work.
