The Tribeca Film and Games Festival announced yesterday that Sam Lake will be one of the main attractions having a “keynote conversation” with a yet to be announced guest. This event will take place in New York, which is a special place for Remedy, as it was the first place we did location scouting at for Max Payne way back in the day. Nice to come back. Sam will take to the stage at 4:30pm on April the 29th at Spring Studios. The discussion will be about the process of writing and who knows, we might be telling you a few interesting tidbits…
In the beginning of the month, our Senior Narrative Designer Gregory Louden will be talking in Tallinn at the GameDevDay on April 7th about building the narrative for Quantum Break. We’re also taking part in the Reboot conference 20.–22.4. in Dubrovnik, Croatia – the very place that is Kings Landing in Game of Thrones! (That has nothing to do with us attending, though. Nope.) At Reboot, our Senior Engine Programmer Ethan Watson will be talking about our Northlight technology. There’s also the small matter of the Finnish Game Awards on April 27th in Helsinki.
In May, right here in Helsinki, Finland, we’re taking part in the Entertainment Business Area event which brings together film, TV, music, radio and games industries to discuss how we all could collaborate and learn from each other. Remedy is in a great place to support the event as video games tend to combine all kinds of entertainment. Towards the end of May, we’ll be bringing an all-star team to the Digital Dragons Conference in Krakow, Poland. Sam Lake will take to the stage to talk about the history of Remedy’s games leading up to our next projects. Our resident composer Petri Alanko will also take to the stage, as will our Senior Graphics Programmer Tatu Aalto, who will go into detail about Northlight engine’s rendering prowess using Quantum Break as an example.
This is not a full list of the events we’re doing, but let’s not reveal all at once, eh?
